The book of the same title is one of the most controversial literary works of the 20th century. Together with Nabokov, Kubrick translated to cinema screen the story of a toxic and immoral love of an adult man to a young girl. A number of Hollywood actors rejected the possibility to play in this film fearing that such a scandalous film may deflate their reputation.
