The Dialogue Centre Upheavals at SEFF '16

HISTORY LESSONS of the Dialogue Centre Upheavals are meetings with youth organised at unusual locations, with historians and witnesses of historical events. The DCU lessons were launched in 2008 and since that time have had several thousand participants. They connect elements of talks, lectures, and happenings, sometimes taking form of an Oxford debate or a dramatisation. What initiates such a lesson can be the anniversary of an important historical event, a current political event, a meeting with an interesting guest, or a film premiere. With the opening of the permanent exhibition in the Dialogue Centre Upheavals, lessons in the museum space were launched as well.

The Dialogue Centre Upheavals, where the History Lesson will take place, is a unique place on the map of Szczecin. The bold design of Robert Konieczny and KWK Promes received the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2016.

The theme of this year's meeting with the youth will be the Warsaw Uprising through the eyes of children. The guests of the event will be Tomasz Stankiewicz, director of “A Brave Bunch,” and Monika Kowaleczko-Szumowska, whose book inspired the film script. The meeting will be hosted by Agnieszka Kuchcińska-Kurcz, head of the DCU. History Lessons  of the Dialogue Centre Upheavals are supported by the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
